The Maldives

Ohhh finally!  I made it to the Maldives!

This was a late booking and since day one of vacation started on Valentine’s Day there wasn’t a lot of choice left for overwater villas and I wasn’t going to the Maldives without an overwater villa!  Thankfully, this Premium Overwater Villa was available and it’s quite close to Malé which was great (and I get Marriott Bonvoy points).  There are 4 of these Premium Villas and 1 two bedroom Villa.

Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa

Premium Overwater Villa

Perched above a turquoise lagoon, this 74 sqm villa is your private sanctuary of luxury and serenity. Wake up to endless ocean views, unwind in your king-sized bed, and soak up the sun on your spacious deck—or dive straight into your private pool or the crystal-clear lagoon below. Whether you’re chasing quiet moments or sea adventures, this is your dream escape brought to life.

I had only one goal ~ to relax on deck and read before returning to Canada, winter, and work.

The Maldives

Officially the Republic of Maldives, the Maldives are located in the Indian Ocean and are a chain of 26 atolls (ring-shaped coral reefs) with 1,192 coral islands and sandbanks.  Malé is the capital city, Sunni Islam is the main religion, the islands have a population of about 600 thousand, and English is the main language.  I didn’t realize that these islands are a length of 871 kms!  International flights all arrive at Velana International Airport in Malé and usually another domestic flight is required to get to your island resort.  We were quite close to Malé and got to our resort island via a 20 minute speedboat ride.
