On the coast of Nicaragua is a little town called San Juan del Sur.  It has beautiful beaches, sunsets worth shedding a tear over, a huge Jesus statue, parks, and delicious food.  There’s also The Loose Moose, a Canadian pub for us canucks!

I travelled into Nicaragua on a bus from Costa Rica.  The bus booking included walking us across the border and assistance with the checkpoints on each side.  All in all, it was a very smooth border crossing.  I had a whole lotta paperwork though!

Hotel Victoriano

The Hotel Victoriano is perfectly located on the beach!  Sitting on the porch looking out over the harbour was perfect.

Cristo de La Misericordia

Christ of the Mercy is a Jesus statue overlooking the harbour.  It takes about an hour to hike to the top and your reward is the jaw-dropping views.

The Continental Divide

I’m always fascinated by these things!

The Continental Divide of the Americas is the principal, and largely mountainous, hydrological divide of the Americas. The Continental Divide extends from the Bering Strait to the Strait of Magellan, and separates the watersheds that drain into the Pacific Ocean from those river systems that drain into the Atlantic and (in northern North America) Arcticoceans (including those that drain into the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean Sea and Hudson Bay).

Although there are many other hydrological divides in the Americas, the Continental Divide is by far the most prominent of these because it tends to follow a line of high peaks along the main ranges of the Rocky Mountains and Andes, at a generally much higher elevation than the other hydrological divisions.

For the Canadians!

I left my name!  Next to the wine glass of course.

The Food in San Juan del Sur

Oh the food!  I’m drooling remembering this Lobster Cerviche.

The Steak, Lobster & Shrimp at Restaurante Vivian was so good, we ate the same thing two nights in a row!

Plantain Chips are my favourite!
