Located on Vancouver Island at the south end of Discovery Passage is Campbell River, known as the “Salmon Capital of the World”. A couple of “The Girls” live in this area and I had a fabulous weekend catching up, hiking and eating great food! The views are amazing!
Saratoga Beach
Saratoga Beach is located in the Comox Valley about 26 km south of Campbell River. It was the perfect spot to take Guiness out to run around!
Rosewall Creek Provincial Park
Running along Rosewall Creek is a 5.8-km out-and-back trail. It is fairly flat and the trail is surrounded by coniferous trees, maple trees, moss and a few mushrooms!
As you can see, we saw the biggest slug I’ve ever laid eyes on. Ewwww.
Ship and Shore Restaurant
Oh my! We stopped at the Ship and Shore restaurant and it was delicious. We shared Breaded Prawns (and scarfed them down before I even thought about getting a picture) and I had Fish & Chips (cod, french fries and GRAVY!).

Quadra Island
A quick ferry ride took us across the water to Quadra Island to see the lighthouse and hike.
What is it about lighthouses? If there’s one nearby, I have to see it.
A little break was needed.

Hiking in this area was fantasic!
We stopped at the Yellow Rose Food Truck for tacos.

Another hike to burn off the tacos!
Around Campbell River
Land and Sea Brewing Co.
I wrapped up the trip with nachos ~ delicious!
