Buying A “Round The World” Plane Ticket

A view of Earth from the Space Shuttle Discovery shows late afternoon sun on the Andes Mountains, with glare and heavy cloud illumination.

On my bucket list is to have an adventure using a “Round the World” plane ticket.

My route on my little jaunt of 28,357 kms around the world is:

I planned my trip with Star Alliance and their website has a really cool planning tool.  All you need are your destinations and dates.  From there you are offered a selection of flights to choose from.  When done, a summary is presented with costs and location descriptions including things to do.

Check it out here:  Star Alliance Round The World

My first flight is with Air Canada from Edmonton to Vancouver and the entire itinerary is on my Aeroplan app.  Very convenient for me!

It ended up being a total of 6 one way flights (8 legs).  As you all know, I’m a princess when it comes to my airplane seat space and I’m going to be spending about 47 hours in the air.  I booked a business class seat and this “Round The World” ticket was a total of $11,750 CAD.  For comparison, an economy class seat would have been $5,300 CAD.

I can’t wait to arrive at the airport (my happy place!) in my same old travel clothes and purple backpack.  Yes, I do have other clothes but tend to always pack the same stuff ~ comfy and easy to wash in a sink and hang dry overnight!

The mystery of this ticket is whether it will all go as planned with the different airlines involved ~ Air Canada, All Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines and Turkish Airlines.  The only place I MUST be is London on August 16 for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour.  Yes, I am a newbie Swiftie!

I’m checking off a few bucket list items with this adventure ~ the Round The World flight, Mount Fuji, Jeju Island and staying at the Pera Palace Hotel.
