Hello Seoul! I have a big crush on South Korea and it is officially one of my favourite countries. I loved the vibe in this country and the name Seoul sounds fancy to me. Seoul is located on the Hangang River 37 miles inland from the Yellow Sea. The 1988 Summer Olympics were held here.
South Korea and Seoul are very safe for tourists. There is so much to see and do ~ history, culture, food, technology and a welcoming people. I highly recommend South Korea as a destination for you and your family.
About The Destination (Star Alliance Round The World)
Seoul is the capital of South Korea. Exuding Asian charm from every brick, Seoul is a very modern city yet traditional. There is a lot to see and do in this vibrant city, it offers many worthy sights, delicious gastronomy, architecture, nightlife, museums, culture, entertainment, shopping and open spaces to satisfy any visitor.
The Hangang River separates Seoul into two distinct areas, north and south. The city lies in a natural basin, surrounded by the Hanbuk Mountain Range and a series hills, offering a magnificent scenic beauty that is one of Seoul’s major appeals. As the ancient seat of Korea’s royalty, there are many palaces and fortresses spread throughout the city. Some of the most important are the Gyeongbok-gung, the Changdeok-gung and the Deoksu-gung. There are, as well, many temples and shrines devoted to the royal family members of Korean dynasties and to the Jogye order of Buddhism, the dominant branch of Buddhism in Korea. Two of the major Buddhist temples in the city are the Jogye Temple and the Bongeun Temple. There are several parks throughout the city and some fantastic hiking opportunities on the outskirts of the city center.
Exciting and colorful, traditional and modern, Seoul is never boring.
War Memorial of Korea
The War Memorial of Korea is on the former site of the army headquarters and exhibits and memorializes the military history of Korea. For me, the most moving part is the statue of two brothers, one North and one South.

“OUR NATION HONORS HER SONS AND DAUGHTERS WHO ANSWERED THE CALL TO DEFEND A COUNTRY THEY NEVER KNEW AND A PEOPLE THEY NEVER MET”
Changgyeonggung Palace
Changgyeonggung Palace was built by the 4th ruler of the Joseon Dynasty, King Sejong for his father, King Taejong. It was often used as residential quarters for queens and concubines. It is the best preserved of the royal palaces in Seoul.
Sungnyemun Gate
Dating back to the 14th century, Sungnyemun Gate is one of the Eight Gates in the Fortress Wall of Seoul. Sungnyemun Gate is Korea’s #1 National Treasure and is the largest castle gate stone structure with an arched entrance in the middle. Different from the other gates, Sungnyemun Gate’s tablet has its name written vertically.
On February 10, 2008, Sungnyemun was destroyed by fire. After a 5-year reconstruction work, the gate was re-opened to the public again on May 4, 2013.

Out & About in Seoul
There is a Tim Horton’s in Seoul! It always seems a little strange when I see one somewhere other than Canada.
