Located on Jeju Island is a three-tier waterfall called Cheonjeyeon Waterfalls.  High above is Seonimgyo Bridge.  Cheonjeyeon means “Pond of the Emperor of Heaven” or “Pond of God”.  According to Korean legend, seven nymphs would descend from the heavens at night and bathe in the waterfall’s pond.

The area was well laid out and cost 2,000 KRW (South Korean Won) to enter and the trail is about 1.6 km.

The water flow:

  • Cold water flows out of the ceiling of a cave and starts the waterfall
  • In the first waterfall, the cliff is 22m high and the water falls into Cheonjeyeon pond which is 21m deep
  • From the pond, the water goes to the second waterfall and falls 30m
  • The water continues to the third waterfall and then goes to the ocean
