I’m loving train travel!  A few years ago I did a month long Ireland-Northern Ireland-Scotland-England-France trip with my son and parents and we took a lot of trains.  It is definitely the best and easiest way to get around Europe.

For this adventure, I purchased the Eurail 3-month Global Pass for my European travel.  You can pre-order online or purchase a pass at your first train station.

The Global Pass lets you travel in these 33 countries:

  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Bosnia-Herzegovina
  • Bulgaria
  • Croatia
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Estonia
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Great Britain
  • Greece
  • Hungary
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Luxembourg
  • Montenegro
  • Netherlands
  • North Macedonia
  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Serbia
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Turkey

Eurail Global Pass

Included in the pass are regional trains, high speed trains, night trains, scenic trains (ie The Glacier Express) and ferries.  Some itineries require a reservation and some an extra fee (ie night trains).

In this picture, I’m on the train from Stavanger to Oslo catching up on my reading & writing!

I was assisted by a nice gentleman who helped me heft Big Bertha into the overhead bin.  My goal in Oslo or Stockholm is to find a new bag on wheels with backpack straps and ship Big Bertha home.  I’m after the Osprey Sojourn!
