What a crazy title that is! Why? How? Am I a lunatic?
In June 2017, I took a very deep breath, asked myself & others the tough questions, decided I was going to chase my travel dream and I volunteered for the severance package at work in order to travel around the world.
My family and friends were very supportive and I talked through numerous scenarios with everyone. What do I do for work when I return? Will I have enough money? What do I do with my house? My belongings? My vehicles? There are a lot of logistics to sort through and plan for.
There were also a lot of “What If’s” going through my mind, but I was honest with myself and my own wants and needs and I addressed them as best I could. My advice is to know yourself – what are your priorities? What’s Option A versus Option B for you? If you choose one path over another, will you have regrets? At the end of the day, you need to do what you think is best for you based on the information you have. There are no guarantees in life.
This whole travel plan is really scary and really exciting at the same time! I have NEVER been unemployed. I’m working until March 2018 and have a number of individual trips and activities already booked. I anticipate starting to travel full time in July 2018 for a couple years!
Right now, between work and other commitments, I’ve obsessively researching and planning. The more I look, the more places and activities I’m discovering that I want to see and do! I may need a lottery win instead of a severance package.
I love to travel and have been every chance I could for many years. I enjoy the history associated with a building or location, meeting new people, new cultures, old architecture, having new experiences, trying new food (I have limits though!), trying things that I’m scared of and adventurous activities. The crazier the better for me! I’m “that” friend who is always willing to go along with an outrageous idea!
I’ve thought about blogging for some time now. What do I have to lose by giving this a try? Nothing. My Mom will read and like everything I post. My 23 year old Son always says that his Mom can do anything – this is all the feedback that I will ever need.
I chose WordPress for this blog and it hasn’t been difficult setting up the pages. I’ve been focusing on getting the framework all in place with the blog, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube so that all I really need to do now is post. I’m a newbie, so please bear with me as I begin my next chapter in life.
If you’ve read this far, YAY! I’m interested in hearing what you’d like to read about!
