Kadek, from Bali Dream Paradise, picked me up at 6:00 am to start our day and we began the drive to the Gates of Heaven.
I take way too many selfies during a day. Here I am with no makeup, sunburnt and wrinkled with the sun shining on my face 🤣 That’s what underneath all the pics with my glasses. 50 is on the horizon!!!
“The Gates of Heaven” are in Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang, a Hindu temple and one of the oldest and highly regarded temples in Bali. I’m not a religious person, but I love the concept of Heaven and my experience here was soul soothing.
Everyone has to wear a sarong and I brought my orange one. Also, shoulders have to be covered and I had my hoody. It was way too hot and I sweltered wearing it. I’ll be looking for something else to cover my shoulders with.
The volcano in the background is Mount Agung that erupted five times in November 2017.
There is quite the queue to get your picture taken. All in all, we were there for over 3 hours and people patiently wait their turn. Of all the major attractions I’ve been to in the world, this was the most organized, even with the wait.
Finally it was my turn!
Kadek!
A quick stop by the road to admire the views!
Tirta Gangga Royal Water Garden is a former royal palace and stunning! You can walk around the gardens and feed the fish.
The Monkey Bar at Bella Kita was fabulous and we had lunch there. The infinity pool is spectacular! Looks like a quiet, relaxing place to stay in Bali.
The traffic is definitely busier here than at home. It could be that I’m not used to seeing so many scooters on the road. Folks are courteous and it works! People are on their scooters with their families, including the babies, and some are carrying their shopping. I love the ladies riding side saddle! That’s my word for it.
I wrapped up my day on the rooftop with a glass of white watching the sunset.
