The Kingdom of Jordan is a country at the crossroads of Asia, Africa and Europe.  I have often looked at pictures and longed to visit.  The pictures are beautiful and Queen Rania is an inspiration.

What do I want to do in Jordan?  First of all, I want to hike!  There seem to be many hiking tours available.  The longer the hike and the more places I can hike to, the more I’m interested.

Wadi Rum

Wadi Rum is a desert landscape with 25,000 petroglyphs (rock carvings), 20,000 inscriptions, and 154 archaeological sites.  Fascinating!  I want to sleep under the stars and ride a camel again.

Petra

Dating back to 300 BC, Petra is an archaeological site containing tombs and temples carved into pink sandstone cliffs.  Also known as the “Rose City”, the Al Khazneh is a temple with an ornate, Greek-style facade.

Dead Sea

I floated in the Dead Sea from the Israel side and want to do it again from the Jordan side.  The Dead Sea is a salt lake bordered by Jordan, Israel and the West Bank.  The lake’s surface is 430.5 metres below sea level, making its shores the lowest land-based elevation on Earth.

Amman

Exploring the capital city of Amman will be a joy.
