I’m loving travelling with my little carry on backpack. When I landed in Sydney and went through Immigration, the man asked if my pack was all I had and THEN he said don’t you have 20 pairs of shoes.  OMG I said do you know me? Maybe I’m on some secret shoe list?

FYI, Sydney airport is the most expensive overpriced place I’ve ever been. A 600 ml bottle of Diet Coke cost me $6.00!!!!!!! I drank every drop.

Barb picked me up at the Melbourne airport and we went home, ate pizza and drank a bottle of wine. I was tired. Her house overlooks a Marina and I have the most fabulous views from my room especially when you first open your eyes in the morning and that is what you see!

Linda came over this morning and I must say it’s so nice seeing these wonderful ladies again. As I always say, the best part is travelling is the people you meet. We did a road trip to the Healesville Sanctuary, a bushland haven for Australian wildlife. Linda brought gummy worms that we passed around and ate! A lot of fun!!

First of all, a bird shit on my head when we arrived at the sanctuary. This is supposed to be good luck, so I’m patiently waiting for some good luck! Barb picked the poop out of my hair.

Oh my heart, the animals I saw today! Kangaroos, Koalas, Dingoes, Pelicans, Wombats and Platypus and more. There are many different species of birds and possums. Amazing. Loved it.

I was so excited when I saw my first kangaroo! I hope I see more.

I’m heading to Tasmania in a few days, but I got to see Tasmanian Devils here. The TD’s on Tasmanian are threatened with Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD). It is a fatal, contagious cancer passed from devil to devil through biting while feeding or mating.

Disease free devils were brought to this sanctuary to ensure the survival of the devils. It’s been very successful and the fight continues against DFTD.

We had a great lunch at the sanctuary. I had a Chai Latte and Lamb Pot Pie. Very good!

There is a Wildlife Health Centre there and a tortoise was having surgery when we walked through.

The views are beautiful in the sanctuary and surrounding areas. I found the perfect winery!

Happy Travels 💕
